AMB WEEKLY UPDATE 5/4/2026

Greetings Eagle family! We have gotten past a lot of big events in our band world this last month, including concert and sightreading, evaluations, orientation, and much more! 

We are thankful for everyone who came to marching band orientation. The directors are tremendously excited to kick start the new year with an all-new marching band season. If you missed orientation, we will get with you and help you through the process to get started with the band next year.
 
CALENDAR: Here is a look at the band calendar that takes us to the end of school:

  • May 4: Wind Ensemble upper woodwind sectional 3:00 to 4:30
  • May 5: Drum Major Finals Auditions 3:30 to 5:30
  • May 7: Wind Ensemble after school rehearsal 3:30 to 5:30
  • May 9: Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony at Sam Houston State University
  • May 11: Wind Ensemble at University of Houston Moores Opera House
  • May 19: Band Spring Concert 7PM
  • May 23: Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony performs at AHS Graduation, Daiken Park
  • May 25: Memorial Day Holiday
  • May 26, 28, 29: Marching Band Mini-Camp 4:30 to 6:00 on band practice field
  • June 2: Instrument Checkout Day

ACTION ITEMS: For this week, these are the biggest things. We need for everyone to go through the following check list of things and make sure that you have taken care of them.

  • Evaluation: Check to make sure that you have been evaluated for a high school band director and have been placed on the band list. The list is posted on our bulletin board, and the middle school directors should have posted it at their schools as well. If you have questions or you don’t see your name on the list, email me at [email protected] and we will get you started!
  • Orientation: If you attended orientation, you are good! If you have NOT attended orientation, we will be reaching out to you to see what we can do to get the information to you so that you have everything you need for the next year.
  • AMB Registration Forms: you need to fill out your registration forms and sign the fall break agreement. You can do that by going to the following link: https://my.cheddarup.com/c/amb-forms-copy
  • AMB Payment: all students MUST purchase all of their items no later than June 1. That is a hard deadline because our performance tops will take almost 8 weeks to prepare. The Annual Dues ($350) are due by August 20th.

Performance Site (PS): SHSU Performing Arts Center - Auditorium
Address: 815 17th Street, Huntsville, TX 77340

This event is for the high school Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony, 4th and 5th period
Concert performance attire required - black long sleeve dress shirt, black dress pant, black socks, black dress shoes/flats

  • 12:30PM Arrival, load up the trucks
  • 1:15 Depart from AHS
  • 3:00 Early Dinner
  • 4:00 Depart dinner, head to SHSU
  • 4:15 Arrive at SHSU, Unload Equipment
  • 5:00 Wind Symphony Performance
  • 7:00 Wind Ensemble Performance
  • 9:15 Pack Up, Load Up, Depart back to AHS
  • 11:00 Arrive at AHS

Monday May 11, 2026

Performance Site (PS): University of Houston, Moores School of Music - Opera House
Address: 3333 Cullen Blvd, Houston, TX 77004

This event is for the high school Wind Ensemble ONLY

Concert performance attire required - black long sleeve dress shirt, black dress pant, black socks, black dress shoes/flats

Parents: are strongly encouraged to attend. This is the very last time these amazing students will ever play this very difficult program again. We are very proud of all of our band students who have worked so hard this year - let’s show them as much support as we possibly can!

  • 3:00 PM - Wind Ensemble Call Time
    • Go to the band hall 1st period.
    • Get ready for rehearsal. 
  • 3:15    Rehearsal
  • 4:30    Rehearsal over, load up, get ready to depart.
    • Ops and percussion begin truck loading.
    • Make sure that you have all the items you need for your performance - instrument in working order, music, reeds/oils, etc
  • 5:00     Depart to U of H
    • Dinner provided on the bus ride home
  • 6:00     Arrive at U of H
  • 7:00     Warm-up Rehearsal at UH
  • 8:00    Wind Ensemble Recording
    • Warm-Up Rehearsal, and Recording Performance in auditorium
  • 9:00 To the buses, go home
  • 10:00 Arrive at Atascocita HS
