Greetings, eagle family! We are gearing up for our very first football game next week, and we have our second academic week underway. We are hoping that everyone is having a very great return to AHS. The band is off to an amazing start this year, and we are excited to perform our first half-time show for everyone.
GRADES: Texas state law regarding no-pass-no-play applies to the 6th week. If a student fails a class on the 6th week of the grading period, they will be completely knocked out of eligibility to participate in the program. Next week will be week three and will be the end of the first progress report period. https://www.atascocitaband.com/the-band-handbook.html#/ and go to page 24 regarding eligibility and Humble ISD’s policy. CUTTIME: Here soon, all parents and students will be able to access their individual CutTime accounts. All students and parents have been entered in based on your information with TAC and your registration forms for band. Soon, you will be receiving a welcome email or SMS messages from CutTime so that you can see your financial records, announcements, and so much more. FIRST FOOTBALL GAME: the band will perform on August 29th Friday vs. Lamar High School away at Houston ISD stadium. An itinerary will be going out next week with all of the details of what to do. REHEARSAL SCHEDULE and CALENDAR: Rehearsals this week are Tuesday 5:30 to 8:00, Thursday 5:30 to 8:00, and Saturday 7:30AM to 10:30AM. Next week of August 25th, the schedule will change slightly due to Labor Day weekend. It will be Monday Tuesday Thursday 5:30 to 8:00 with no Saturday. The rehearsal schedule up to the end of marching and football season can be found at our website: www.atascocitaband.com and click on CALENDAR. All students who are enrolled in band are required to attend after school rehearsals for marching band (unless approved by a director for sports conflicts and other situations). FLIP FOLDER: All students need to purchase their own flip folder before the Friday game next week. These folders hold their music in the stands, and it’s a very important part of their equipment. Click here for a link to Amazon for an example of what to get. LYRE: All students also need to purchase the thing that holds the flip folder, which is call the lyre. Here’s an example of one for saxophone - you just need to find one for your instrument. Flutes and French Horns will have the lyres that wrap around their wrist. PEP RALLY: is next Friday August 29th during 3rd period. Outfit for this is PEP RALLY OUTFIT:
ITEMS TO PURCHASE: all students should have purchased their blue band shirts, red polo shirts, black marching shoes, and your annual dues. All students should have purchased their items before the first football game on August 29th. If you missed out on the cutoff date to purchase items, then we might have some extras in our inventory to sell. We will send out more information on that later too. BAND DUES! ALL BAND DUES OF $350 ARE DUE BEFORE THE FIRST FOOTBALL GAME TO BE ELIGIBLE TO MARCH ON THE FIELD.
