AMB WEEKLY UPDATE 9-14-2025
Greetings, eagle family! We are now three football games in, and our UIL competition program looks better and better every time we perform it! We are almost done learning the entire show! And some more good news… NO GAME this week! It’s a bye-week, which means you get to enjoy your Friday off! While we have the week with no game, here is some very important information everyone needs to know. LAST CALL FOR GRADES!: This is week 6, and it is the final week for teachers to turn in grades for eligibility. Next week, if a student is failing a course on their progress report, they will be completely eliminated from performing, rehearsing, or competing with the AMB. It will put our whole entire program in a terrible situation, so we are calling on all students and parents to give one last effort to turn in all missing assignments, do well on exams, and attend tutorials in the courses you are failing. Texas state law regarding no-pass-no-play applies to the 6th week. If a student fails a class on the 6th week of the grading period, they will be completely knocked out of eligibility to participate in the program. PASSOFF: The band students are currently working on “passing off” their marching music to a band director or a section leader. We must have every band student passing off all music before our first real competition which is September 27. If all students are passing their classes, we will be working with them on passing off their music. Band students should currently be practicing the “Crosley Trio March 4” as this march will be the next one we add to the show. STUDY HALL THIS WEEK: All band directors will be transitioning all of our band classes next week into a “study hall” period so that all students who are failing can have an opportunity to pass their classes. If a student is failing, they can use band time to get caught up on all of their work. If they are passing all of their classes, they can catch up on passing off their marching music. WATER JUGS FOR BAND PRACTICE: All students must have a water jug at practice. It is mandatory and non-negotiable. A water jug check will initiate at the beginning of rehearsal to make sure that every student has what they need. NEXT FOOTBALL GAME: After our bye-week, our next football game is September 26th Friday vs. CE King. It is an away game at Sheldon ISD stadium. Since the stadium is about the same distance as Turner’s stadium (by a few minutes), the itinerary from the previous games will remain identical - rehearsal 3:20, inspection 4:30, roll out by 5PM. Game starts at 7:00PM. MARCHING BAND UNIFORMS: We will be done with summer band uniforms for the next game, and it is finally time to roll out our marching band uniforms. Students will wear their coats, cross belts, marching pants for the performance. Underneath this uniform, students MUST have:
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: Same as last week: Monday Tuesday Thursday, 3:45 to 6:15. The rehearsal schedule up to the end of marching and football season can be found at our website: www.atascocitaband.com and click on CALENDAR. All students who are enrolled in band are required to attend after school rehearsals for marching band (unless approved by a director for sports conflicts and other situations). FIRST MARCHING BAND CONTEST: Our itinerary for the first marching band festival is located on the band website: www.atascocitaband.com. Saturday September 27th at Humble ISD Turner Stadium, festival performance time for the band is 9:40AM. The call time for this contest will be 5:30AM that Saturday. We will need to prioritize getting back quickly so kids can go home and rest. It’s a very early morning, but the good news is that it’s over early and the kids will be back home by 10:45AM! Also good news is football away game on that Friday before is CE King stadium which is really close by. We need this rehearsal run-through before the performance to ensure that our students are at their absolute best and know the steps and moves on the field confidently! We did this same thing last year, and it worked fine.
