AMB WEEKLY UPDATE 9/29/2025
Greetings Eagle Family! We had a great first performance of our complete UIL show at the Humble ISD Festival this year. The kids had a great performance, one that we are really proud of. It is a great first step for us, and we have a great foundation to make it even better for our competition season. We are officially one more month away from the end of our competition season. We are excited to see what kind of development we can have with our program until then! We are reaching the finish line quickly! REGION JAZZ BAND: Today, selected students in the jazz band will be traveling to Spring High School 9th grade campus to play for this year’s TMEA All-Region Jazz band auditions. Students are independently traveling there, but we also have a district-approved suburban for any students (up to 7) who are unable to find a ride to the contest. We must be there for check-in by 4:30, and I believe that we will be home around 8:30 or 9:00PM. GRADES: This is week 8 of grades. We are not out of the woods just yet. ANOTHER eligibility check will take place at the end of the 9 weeks. Students have THIS WEEK AND NEXT WEEK to make sure that they are passing all of their classes with a 70. Alternatively, any student who was previously ineligible can GAIN their eligibility back by the week 9 report card and participate with us at football games and contests again. NEXT FOOTBALL GAME: Friday October 3, it’s our HOMECOMING GAME! Vs: Summer Creek HS at Turner Stadium. The itinerary is the same as every itinerary we’ve had previously. The only difference is that we will perform our show at the END OF THE FOOTBALL GAME, not at the half-time. NEXT COMPETITION: Our next band competition is October 11th at Channelview ISD Ray Maddry Stadium. The itinerary for that contest has been posted and is on the website - www.atascocitaband.com DRUMLINE BATTERY PERCUSSION AT BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT: The drumline will be performing during the school day for a special basketball tournament hosted at our campus. This is the same tournament they played for last year. More information will go out regarding this tournament soon. It is during the school day, so there is no additional planning other than make sure that all drumline students are up on the grades and assignments that they might be missing for class.

AMB WEEKLY UPDATE 9/21/2025
Greetings, eagle family! Hope everyone enjoyed their bye-week and got lots of much needed rest! We are now entering the competition season of our marching band! It is a VERY exciting time, as now all of our hard work will not only be paying off, but it will just all be getting better and better! ELIGIBILITY WEEK: This Monday at 10AM, teachers will put in their final grades for the IPR 6 weeks. If a student is failing a course on their progress report, they will be completely eliminated from performing, rehearsing, or competing with the AMB. Students who lose eligibility will be notified in class, and they will be eliminated from participating further. ALTERNATES: This is the week that alternates schedule changes. We need all alternates to attend marching rehearsals on Monday as we will begin switching out starter performers who have failed courses. This Friday, alternates will perform in the drill team block on the field. Once the band moves forward, alternates will dismiss to the side. We must begin having performances with the competition block only so that our evaluations can further prepare us for competition. For a further explanation on how starters/alternates work, please visit the AHS Band Handbook at www.atascocitaband.com MUSIC PASSOFF: The band students are currently working on “passing off” their marching music to a band director or a section leader. We must have every band student passing off all music before our first real competition which is September 27. NEXT FOOTBALL GAME SEP 26: Our next football game is September 26th Friday vs. CE King. It is an away game at Sheldon ISD stadium. Since the stadium is about the same distance as Turner’s stadium (by a few minutes), the itinerary from the previous games will remain identical - rehearsal 3:20, inspection 4:30, roll out by 5PM. Game starts at 7:00PM. FIRST FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE SEP 27: The Humble ISD Marching Band Festival is here at Turner stadium, and it’s a very short day! Click the link below for the itinerary. It can also be found on our atascocita band webpage. https://www.atascocitaband.com/uploads/1/2/6/6/126667883/contest_itinerary_-_humble_isd_festival_-_google_docs.pdf Our itinerary for the first marching band festival is located on the band website: www.atascocitaband.com. Saturday September 27th at Humble ISD Turner Stadium, festival performance time for the band is 9:40AM. The call time for this contest will be 5:30AM that Saturday. We will need to prioritize getting back quickly so kids can go home and rest. It’s a very early morning, but the good news is that it’s over early and the kids will be back home by 10:45AM! Also good news is football away game on that Friday before is CE King stadium which is really close by. We need this rehearsal run-through before the performance to ensure that our students are at their absolute best and know the steps and moves on the field confidently! We did this same thing last year, and it worked fine. MARCHING BAND UNIFORMS: We are switching to full marching band uniforms this Friday and Saturday! We will be done with summer band uniforms for the next game, and it is finally time to roll out our marching band uniforms. Students will wear their coats, cross belts, marching pants for the performance. Underneath this uniform, students MUST have:
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: Same as last week: Monday Tuesday Thursday, 3:45 to 6:15. The rehearsal schedule up to the end of marching and football season can be found at our website: www.atascocitaband.com and click on CALENDAR. All students who are enrolled in band are required to attend after school rehearsals for marching band (unless approved by a director for sports conflicts and other situations). AMB WEEKLY UPDATE 9-14-2025
Greetings, eagle family! We are now three football games in, and our UIL competition program looks better and better every time we perform it! We are almost done learning the entire show! And some more good news… NO GAME this week! It’s a bye-week, which means you get to enjoy your Friday off! While we have the week with no game, here is some very important information everyone needs to know. LAST CALL FOR GRADES!: This is week 6, and it is the final week for teachers to turn in grades for eligibility. Next week, if a student is failing a course on their progress report, they will be completely eliminated from performing, rehearsing, or competing with the AMB. It will put our whole entire program in a terrible situation, so we are calling on all students and parents to give one last effort to turn in all missing assignments, do well on exams, and attend tutorials in the courses you are failing. Texas state law regarding no-pass-no-play applies to the 6th week. If a student fails a class on the 6th week of the grading period, they will be completely knocked out of eligibility to participate in the program. PASSOFF: The band students are currently working on “passing off” their marching music to a band director or a section leader. We must have every band student passing off all music before our first real competition which is September 27. If all students are passing their classes, we will be working with them on passing off their music. Band students should currently be practicing the “Crosley Trio March 4” as this march will be the next one we add to the show. STUDY HALL THIS WEEK: All band directors will be transitioning all of our band classes next week into a “study hall” period so that all students who are failing can have an opportunity to pass their classes. If a student is failing, they can use band time to get caught up on all of their work. If they are passing all of their classes, they can catch up on passing off their marching music. WATER JUGS FOR BAND PRACTICE: All students must have a water jug at practice. It is mandatory and non-negotiable. A water jug check will initiate at the beginning of rehearsal to make sure that every student has what they need. NEXT FOOTBALL GAME: After our bye-week, our next football game is September 26th Friday vs. MARCHING BAND UNIFORMS: We will be done with summer band uniforms for the next game, and it is finally time to roll out our marching band uniforms.
FIRST MARCHING BAND CONTEST: Our itinerary for the first marching band festival is located on the band website: www.atascocitaband.com. AMB WEEKLY UPDATE 9/8/2025
Congratulations to everyone on another amazing football game! We added new show content, and it went really well! We are making really great progress!! This week, we will be primarily focused on cleaning what we have as well as adding a few more maneuvers to the field. CALENDAR CHANGE - CHANNELVIEW MARCHING INVITATIONAL FESTIVAL OCTOBER 11th: Students now have October 4th off for homecoming. We have moved that performance to the Channelview Marching Invitational Festival on Saturday October 11th. This is the Saturday before we start our Don't-Go-On-Vacation Fall Break and the Saturday right before the UIL Region Marching Contest, so this will be particularly great for our program. We are thankful for Channelview directors working with us to give us an opening in their lineup of great bands. Also, I know the big ask it is to ask families to adjust their schedules, but we are confident that it is the best call for our kids. Thank you all for being flexible! REHEARSAL ATTENDANCE: I do want to make sure everyone understands the importance of rehearsal attendance. Any time a student misses rehearsal, they miss important information for the team as well as opportunities to practice their performance. It affects other players who have to march with a missing player on the field. Thursday rehearsals are the most critical of all of them, as it is our last rehearsal day before a major performance to put it all together. STUDENTS LATE TO PRACTICE: please see the AHS Band handbook regarding being late to practice on www.atascocitaband.com The amount of time a student is late to practice is the amount of time they must stay later to make up the missed time. (Ex: If a student is 5 minutes late, they must stay after 5 minutes.) Go to page 17 of the band handbook at https://www.atascocitaband.com/the-band-handbook.html#/ to review the details regarding this procedure. 5TH WEEK GRADES: There are only two more weeks left until eligibility will go into effect. It is crunch time for band students who are in trouble with grades to work them out so they will not be eliminated due to grade ineligibility. Reminder that Texas state law regarding no-pass-no-play applies to the 6th week. If a student fails a class on the 6th week of the grading period, they will be completely knocked out of eligibility to participate in the program. NEXT FOOTBALL GAME: This week, the band will perform on September 12th Friday vs. Austin Westlake High School as a home game at our Turner Stadium. Go to www.atascocitaband.com under Quick Links for the football game itinerary. It will be entirely the same as last week’s. ATTIRE FOR THE GAME: Same as previous game
(The next week is a bye-week, and then the attire changes to full uniforms: coats, pants.) REHEARSAL SCHEDULE AND CALENDAR: We are transitioning to after school rehearsals this week. It will be important for all band students to have sunscreen, protective head wear, and water jug (more on this below). Students will also need all of their marching music and their instruments on the field.
The rehearsal schedule up to the end of marching and football season can be found at our website: www.atascocitaband.com and click on CALENDAR. FIRST MARCHING FESTIVAL: our first major festival performance is the Humble ISD invitational festival on September 27th Saturday. The itinerary of the event is located on the main band website page. www.atascocitaband.com WATER JUG: We will be implementing a water jug policy this week at all AMB rehearsals. All band students will be required to bring a water jug to practice, and there will no longer be exceptions to this. Any student without a water jug will be not allowed on the field until they acquire one. If a student goes all rehearsal long without marching because of no water jug, it will be marked as an unexcused absence. Please see the most recent document on the BAND APP for more information on the water jug policy. AMB WEEKLY UPDATE 9/2/2025
Congratulations everyone on an amazing first game! We battled crazy traffic to get there, but we got it done! The half time show was great, and we really fired up the crowd in the stands! I’m already looking forward to the next one. We are adding new show content on the field this week and continuing with new drill learning, so it will be important for all students to be in attendance for after school rehearsal so that you will know what to do for the game this Friday. 4TH WEEK GRADES: Progress reports are going out this week. We are in week 4 of grades, so that means we have 3 weeks remaining until eligibility goes into effect. Reminder that Texas state law regarding no-pass-no-play applies to the 6th week. If a student fails a class on the 6th week of the grading period, they will be completely knocked out of eligibility to participate in the program. NEXT FOOTBALL GAME: This week, the band will perform on September 5th Friday vs. Katy High School as a home game at our Turner Stadium. Go to www.atascocitaband.com under Quick Links for the football game itinerary. A large portion of the itinerary is the exact same as last week, except we are home instead of away, and our departure/arrival times will be different. ATTIRE FOR THE GAME: Same as previous game
BUS LANE AFTER THE GAME: when picking your child up from the end of the football game at Atascocita High School, please make sure to not park in the bus lane. Multiple buses will be attempting to drive through to get to the band hall. We kindly ask all parents to park in parking spaces in the parking lot and not in the bus ramp. REHEARSAL SCHEDULE AND CALENDAR: Since we had Labor Day weekend and a game on Friday, our schedule this week has been altered slightly. Here are the new times:
The rehearsal schedule up to the end of marching and football season can be found at our website: www.atascocitaband.com and click on CALENDAR. CONCESSION STANDS: PARENTS - WE NEED YOUR HELP. The Boosters will be sending out information soon regarding concession stand volunteer sign up. We are kindly asking for each family to at least sign up for at least two or three concession stand spots each year. Volunteering for the concession stands is an expectation of the program (in the same way of being a snack parent or dugout mom/dad for little league baseball). We always need serious help. We understand that some families are not in a situation where they can sign up, but there are so many ways that you can still help! Email [email protected] for more information. MARCHING SHOES: All marching band students are required to wear this specific shoe on the field. It is the MTX marching band shoe by the DSI company. For the game this Friday, all students will be required to wear these shoes to pass inspection and be eligible to march the show on the field. If you are behind and haven't purchased these shoes for the uniform, you have time to do an Amazon delivery before next week's Friday game. https://a.co/d/2FYOWBI |
