We have worked very hard for this day, and we are very excited for our amazing band program. Please read this update carefully, as it pertains to a lot of what is going on this week. This is the very last rehearsal we have, and every performer must be physically on the field for the team. Please tell your club sponsors that you have band practice this day and must be at band at 3:45 - no exceptions. Please tell your private lesson teachers and tutorial teachers that you must be at 3:45 practice - no exceptions. It's the last one! Monday rehearsal is an All-Call for every starting band student who is marching in UIL State Championships for a 3:45 to 6:45 final rehearsal. Every student must be in attendance, and this is the day that you will tell your clubs and sponsors “Sorry, I can’t - I have band.” Tuesday UIL State Military Marching Band Championships: the full itinerary of the day is posted on the www.atascocitaband.com website. Students will arrive in the AM, rehearse on the AHS field, report to the band hall, and load up to depart to Waco for our final contest of the season. Please read it carefully - a lot of information is in there on how that contest day will go. Attendance the next morning: All band students will have a later arrival after the late arrival, and must report to class by the 10:30 AM ADA attendance. WEDNESDAY: full region orchestra itinerary for those students who are attending is attached on the BAND app and can also be found at www.atascocitaband.com **A note about PSAT on Wednesday: Although there are no makeup opportunities for the October 29th PSAT, juniors who miss the exam may contact the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for an alternate entry to the National Merit Scholarship Program. The details for entry are outlined on the linked site. Thursday Widdy-Up Pre-Kickoff and Senior Night practice: All band students need to meet in the band hall for a regular 3:45 practice like normal for a 20-minute widdy-up fundraiser pre-kickoff session. Following that meeting, all seniors and parents will be meeting on the field at 4:10pm for a senior night run-through practice. Seniors must be in attendance so that you will know what to do on Saturday. Parents are encouraged to attend as well, but it will be more important for senior students to be there so that they can show you where to go on the field. SENIORS: I NEED YOUR FORM BY MONDAY NIGHT. Greetings again, Eagle Family! We have THREE WEEKS LEFT to the end of UIL Marching Band Season! We are very quickly approaching the finish line with our competitive show. Here is the calendar of events as we have them up to state championships:
GRADES: THIS IS THE FINAL WEEK FOR GRADES TO BE ENTERED. ANOTHER eligibility check will take place next week. Students have UP TO THIS FRIDAY to make sure that they have turned in all of their work and have at least above a 70 in all of their classes. Eligibility date will take place after the fall break. FALL BREAK: This is a very important announcement. Every student in the band should have filled out a fall break notice contract. Every year, we have a fall break, and it always falls on top of very important events. Unlike previous years, THIS ONE FALLS ON EXACTLY THE WEEK OF UIL! Therefore, no student should leave Atascocita on vacation. We need every single student here on the fall break week so that we can have a competitive UIL this year. The rehearsals will be in the morning when the weather is cooler, kids can get the rehearsal out of the way, then go home and relax and enjoy the rest of their day. REHEARSAL ATTENDANCE: Are strictly required for these next three weeks. We need everyone in attendance to finish strong and clean our show before competition. Alternatively, any student who was previously ineligible can GAIN their eligibility back by the week 9 report card and participate with us at football games and contests again. NEXT FOOTBALL GAME: October 10th is our next game, and it’s at Turner Stadium on the visiting side vs. Humble High School. AND - it’s our 8th grade night! We are super excited to see our future members this Friday, and we hope that they have a lot of fun! The itinerary has not changed - 5:00 depart from AHS, arrive at Turner around 5:30, in the stands by 6:10, game starts at 7:00, home around 10:30ish. NEXT COMPETITION: Our next band competition is October 11th at Channelview ISD Ray Maddry Stadium. The itinerary for that contest has been posted and is on the website - www.atascocitaband.com This is a ranked competition that will determine a prelims and finals performance. Please review the itinerary entirely. |
