HOW IT WORKS:
QUALIFYING ROUND - UIL SOLO AND ENSEMBLE All band students middle school and high school participate in their yearly UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest. as the first round. The UIL judges will determine from their evaluation the top performing solos and ensembles who will qualifies to enter ASEC as a Prelims contestant. (ASEC Qualifiers will be determined by the end of February)
ASEC PRELIMS Following UIL Solo and Ensemble, students selected to compete in ASEC will perform at their campuses in a PRELIMS round, and semi-finalists will be selected by the directors:
10-12 Solos for middle school, 12-15 Solos for high school
10-12 Ensembles for middle school, 12-15 ensembles for high school
(ASEC Semi-Finalists will be announced by the end of March)
ASEC SEMI-FINALS The SEMI-FINALIST performances will take place at their campuses with their band directors. Solos will perform with a piano accompaniment, and this performance will determine who all will perform in a huge night of ASEC Finals. From this round, the following entries will advance into finals by determination of the director's listening:
3 Solo Finalists from AMS, TMS, and WLMS
3 Ensemble Finalists from AMS, TMS, and WLMS
8 Soloists from AHS
8 Ensembles from AHS
(ASEC Finalists who will be performing in the Finals will be announced by mid-April)
ASEC 2025 FINALS
This day is a celebration of all of the ASEC qualifiers who have moved on to the final round in hopes of being named the ASEC Winner! 3 outside judges will be hired for this day to determine who will win the championship. The location will be off-site at a large venue, to be determined, and typically takes place on a Saturday in May. The community and parents are strongly urged to attend and cheer on the excellent talent on stage!

High School Ensemble Class
Following the performances, an awards ceremony will take place that will determine the winners of the Atascocita Solo and Ensemble Championship!
